Renting a Dress for the First Time: From Choosing a Style to Return Day

Your first rental feels easier when you prepare the model code, measurements, event date and policies before pickup.

Renting a dress for the first time feels much easier with a clear sequence: choose for the occasion, send useful measurements, fit for real movement and confirm the pickup and return timing. A little preparation prevents a beautiful photograph from becoming the wrong dress for the actual day.

Narrow the choice by occasion

Note the date, time, venue, dress code and main activity. An outdoor event needs a manageable hem; a formal evening can carry a long dress; birthdays and cocktail settings often allow a shorter, more flexible shape. Choose two or three directions before saving many unrelated dresses.

Send measurements, not only weight

Measure bust, waist at the stated position and hips with a soft tape. Keep it level, do not pull it tight and measure over the underwear you plan to wear. Weight cannot show shoulder width, waist position or the relationship between measurements, so it cannot replace centimetres.

Read each model separately

Dahlia Dress A002 in size S has an above-navel waist under 64 cm and a back tie. Elodie Dress A013 comes in S, M and L with above-navel waist references under 66, 70 and 76 cm. Aller Dress A012 in size L has an above-navel waist under 74 cm and a back tie. These figures help you choose what to try; the bust, shoulders, hips and length still need a fitting.

Fit for the real event

Bring the underwear and shoes you will wear. Sit for at least ten minutes, walk, raise your arms, turn and breathe naturally. Check whether the neckline shifts, the zip pulls, the tie needs constant attention or the hem catches the shoe. A useful dress lets you forget about adjusting it for most of the event.

Use photographs to compare

Take front, side and back photographs plus a short walking video in the same light. Avoid filters that change colour or proportion. Save the model code, size and shoes with each image so nothing is confused later.

Confirm before pickup

  • The chosen model code and size.

  • The intended pickup and return timing.

  • Any included accessories and dressing or tie instructions.

  • How to contact Rent by Châu if help is needed.

  • The condition of the dress at handover.

Care during the event

Keep the dress dry and away from food and drinks before wearing it. Lift a long hem just enough when moving, and avoid pulling lace, flowers or decorative ties. If something happens, stop, photograph the area and contact Rent by Châu. Do not wash, cut, glue or apply chemicals yourself.

Plan the return

After the event, hang or place the dress as instructed, collect every accessory and prepare for the agreed return time. If your itinerary changes, message the shop early. Use the dress fitting checklist, then send Rent by Châu your preferred model and date for a schedule check.
